From Clicks to Clients: Optimising Divi Websites for Lead Generation

Most Divi sites we audit work fine. They load, they look reasonable, the forms send. The problem is that they were built to look like a website rather than to do a job. They get clicks, but the clicks do not become clients.

Optimising a Divi site for lead generation is mostly an exercise in removing friction and making the next step obvious. Below is the framework we use on rebuild and audit projects across Newton Abbot, Teignmouth, Exeter and Torquay — the things that, in our experience, actually move the conversion rate.

Start with one outcome per page

Every page on a small business site should have a single primary outcome. Homepage: get the visitor to one of three calls to action (call, WhatsApp, quote). Service page: get them to a quote form or a phone call. Blog post: get them onto an email list or to a related service page.

Pages with three or four competing CTAs convert at a fraction of the rate of pages with one. Divi's section and column structure makes it easy to demote secondary actions and elevate the primary one — bigger, brighter, repeated above and below the fold.

Compelling, specific calls to action

"Submit" is the worst button label on the internet. "Find out more" is not much better. The CTA copy should describe what the visitor gets and what it costs them.

Strong CTAs we have seen perform on Devon business sites:

  • "Get a free quote in 24 hours"
  • "Book a free roof survey — Newton Abbot and Teignbridge"
  • "Send us photos, we will price the job"
  • "WhatsApp us now — we reply within an hour"

Generic CTAs tell the visitor nothing. Specific ones reduce hesitation.

Landing pages, not homepages, for paid traffic

If you spend money on Google Ads, Facebook or Instagram, do not send that traffic to your homepage. Build a dedicated Divi landing page per campaign with the menu hidden, the message focused on the offer, and a single conversion path.

A Newton Abbot service business we work with halved their cost per lead by switching ad traffic from a generic homepage to dedicated landing pages — one per service offered, each with its own quote form. Same ad spend, twice the enquiries.

Forms: ask less, qualify smarter

Conversion drops sharply for every field you add to a form. The four-field rule we apply on most lead-capture forms:

  1. Name
  2. Phone or email
  3. One pre-qualifier (postcode, service required, project size)
  4. A single open box for the description

If you genuinely need more, ask for it on the second page after the visitor has committed.

Test your changes, do not guess

Divi's built-in A/B testing (and easy integration with tools like VWO and Google Optimize) means you do not have to argue about whether the green button beats the orange one. Run the test for two weeks, look at the numbers, ship the winner.

We typically run two or three tests in the first quarter after a Divi 5 rebuild — usually hero copy, CTA wording, and form length. The compounding effect is real: a 20% lift on each of three tests gets you to 73% more leads from the same traffic.

Mobile is where the leads live

For most Devon businesses 60–70% of traffic now comes from mobile. If your buttons are too small for thumbs, your forms scroll badly, or your phone numbers are not click-to-call, you are leaking leads. Divi 5's responsive editor makes it possible to design the mobile experience first and let desktop inherit, which is the order of priority that matches actual visitor behaviour.

What to do next

If your Divi site is converting under 2% of visitors into enquiries, there is room to lift it. We run paid audits and free first-look reviews depending on the scope. Send the URL to 07887 988780 or through the quote form and we will tell you which of the changes above will pay back fastest. Starter rebuilds begin at £250 and most retainer clients see lift inside the first 90 days.
