A friendly intro to Shout Websites — Newton Abbot web design, hosting, local SEO and digital marketing. £250 starter, £300/month retainer. 26+ years.
Welcome to Shout Websites
We're a website design and hosting agency based in Newton Abbot, Devon. We've been here since 1998 — that's 26+ years of building, hosting, fixing and supporting websites for businesses across South Devon. This page is a quick introduction to who we are and how we work, in case you're thinking about getting in touch.
What we do
Three things, really.
We build websites. Mostly WordPress with the Divi 5 page builder, all running on our ShoutFast CMS optimisation layer. Sites ship at 95+ Google PageSpeed and they're built to be edited by you, not held hostage by us. Starter business websites are £250 one-off.
We host and look after them. Daily off-site backups, monthly WordPress and plugin updates, malware scanning, SSL, two-factor admin login, and a real human at the end of the phone if something breaks. Hosting plus retainer is £300 per month with no twelve-month tie-in.
We do local SEO and digital marketing. Google Business Profile optimisation, citations, on-page SEO, content writing, review management. We focus on local — getting Devon businesses found by Devon customers. We don't pretend to compete in national PPC against three-figures-a-click keywords. That's not our market and it shouldn't be most local businesses' market either.
What we don't do
We're not the cheapest option in Devon — there are sole traders and offshore Wix-template-flippers charging less. We're also not the most expensive — Plymouth and Exeter agencies routinely charge five figures for what we deliver for hundreds. We sit in the practical middle.
We don't hard-sell upgrades you don't need. We don't pad invoices. We don't run twelve-month contracts. We don't pretend AI will replace good content writing. We don't promise top Google rankings in a fortnight — anyone who does is lying or planning to use tactics that get sites penalised.
Who we work with
The client list spans most of South Devon: Newton Abbot trades, Torbay hospitality, Teignmouth retailers, Exeter professional services, Bovey Tracey and Ashburton makers, holiday lets across the English Riviera, charities and clubs across the region. Sectors include construction, plumbing, automotive, healthcare, finance, education, tourism, retail, food and drink.
Most of our work is for small and medium businesses — typical client size is one to twenty staff. We do occasionally work with larger clients but the bread and butter is local.
How a first project usually goes
You ring us or fill in the free quote form. We have a 20-minute conversation about what your business does, who your customers are, what you want the website to achieve, and what you've got currently. We give you an honest assessment — sometimes that's "yes, here's what we'd quote," sometimes it's "actually, your existing site is fine, you just need local SEO," sometimes it's "we're not the right fit for this, try X."
If we proceed, the typical starter timeline is 3-4 weeks from sign-off to live website. Content collaboration, photography, domain setup and DNS, three rounds of design feedback, soft launch, then go live.
After launch, you decide whether you want to take the £300/month retainer (recommended for most businesses) or just walk away with a working website you can manage yourself.
Where we are
The office is in Newton Abbot. We're happy to meet face-to-face — coffee, the office, your premises, whatever works. Most clients prefer a first meeting in person and follow-ups over Zoom or phone, but we'll fit around what suits.
If you'd rather everything be remote, that's fine too. Roughly a third of our clients are based outside the immediate Newton Abbot area and we've never met them in person.
Get in touch
The fastest way: call or WhatsApp 07887 988780. We usually respond within an hour during the working day.

What happens next
You ring or message. We talk through your business, what you're trying to achieve, and what's realistic. If we're the right fit, we quote. If we're not, we say so and point you somewhere better. There's no obligation either way.
That's it. Welcome.
